Fellowship of the Application-oriented exchange program
The Application-oriented exchange program awards at least one fellowship per program line (Research internship or Applied study semester) and term.
The fellowship includes:
- Monthly living costs: EUR 934
- Monthly insurance contribution: EUR 35
- Single payment for mobility at the beginning of the program: The amount varies based on the home country according to the guidelines of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
You apply by submitting the fellowship application form. Additionally, an accademic referee forwards the Letter of Recommendation directly to [Bitte aktivieren Sie Javascript].
Please note that the Letter of Recommendation is an additional option for the fellowship application in case that the academic referee who submitted the Report on eligibility has commented their assessment in the Report.
The selection committee considers the information provided in the fellowship and general application as well as the Letter of Recommendation submitted by an academic referee.
For citizens or nationals of the United States in an undergraduate program in full-time
The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program supports undergraduate students in good standing to study or intern abroad who might otherwise not participate in an exchange program due to financial constraints. The scholarship funds cover eligible costs and related expenses.
Applications can be submitted in two scholarship terms.
It is a program of the U. S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
In a partnership with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Gilman-DAAD Germany Scholarship provides 40 scholarships.

For citizens of European Union and third countries associated with ERASMUS +
For the Research internships
The Erasmus+ traineeship abroad for students supports any student to intern in a relevant field for the degree-related learning and for personal development needs. This grant is calculated on a monthly basis and provides
- a basic grant amount of EUR 540, and
- an internship topup of EUR 150.
Erasmus+ traineeship is awarded to
- internships between 2 to 12 months.
For the Rearch internships and the Applied study semester
The Erasmus+ Studying abroad addresses exchange students up to 12 months. The grant amount provides
- a basic grant amount of EUR 540.
Erasmus+ Studying abroad is awarded to
- studying periods between 2 to 12 months.
Both Erasmus+ programs can be combined. The studying period in combination with an internship period can last a maximum of 12 months together.
Pre-requisite is the partecipation of the institution of higher education in the Erasmus+ program.
