Machine learning with texts

Feb 5, 2019

A lot of information is usually only available in unstructured texts. They are (usually) easy for a human to understand, but not for a computer. This project attempts to extract structured information from the rental conditions for hire vehicles provided by Check24. This enables customers to compare different offers with greater transparency. This is because hidden costs from the rental conditions need to be found and itemised. Various techniques from the fields of machine learning and computational linguistics are used for the implementation. The project will be completed in the 2018/19 winter semester.

Ecological timber hybrid construction methods for multi-storey buildings

Feb 1, 2019

The topics of "sustainability" and "resource efficiency" are on everyone's lips and are also increasingly coming into focus at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, or have long been a research focus. On this occasion, a project idea has been developed at the Institute for Timber Construction at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences (HSA_ifh) in cooperation with two industrial partners, which is intended to replace classic ceiling construction methods using the climate-damaging building materials cement and steel with efficient and ecological hybrid constructions made of wood and calcium sulfate. This project will be funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection (StMUV) for 36 months from July 2019 as part of the "ForCYCLE II" project network.

LandsApp

Jul 24, 2018

The app is for landscape architects and landscapers to improve their interaction with the customer. You place AR models (trees, bushes, flowers and furniture) into the scene and give the customer a fairly realistic picture of the finished garden. Using the iPad camera, you place these models into the real image of the garden in real time.

GraveCare

Jul 24, 2018

The larger the cemetery, the more difficult it is to find a specific grave. Especially for people whose job it is to find many different graves every day in cemeteries with many thousands of graves. This is exactly what our "Gravecare" app is designed for. With the help of a smartphone app, we significantly reduce the time spent searching for graves. Tasks for the corresponding graves can also be ticked off immediately.

Serious Security Game

Jun 27, 2018

Easy entry into the world of IT security?

No problem! Our motivation for this semester project was to develop a practical game that deals with the topic of network security. In addition to its illustrative features, the game is also easy to understand and should inspire both first-year students and pupils.
