Abstract Biography

Amin is an educator, and researcher in sustainable digital timber construction. He is currently a Lecturer in Architecture at the Augsburg Technical University of Applied Sciences, while working on the “Timber Structure Interface. TSI” research project - described as the development of a data interface for the automated structural analysis of the novel, digitally prefabricated timber structures with wood-wood connections - federally-funded by The Agency for Renewable Resources e. V. (FNR) in Germany. Previously, he had varied research and/or teaching duties at different universities like Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, Bremen University of Applied Sciences, Technical University of Kaiserslautern, University of Mazandaran, and Politecnico Di Milano. He has taught design studios, seminars, and technical workshops, specifically on timber prefabrication, at different universities as well as conferences like DigitalFUTURES 2023, CAADRIA 2023, ACADIA 2022 at University of Pennsylvania, and held lectures internationally. His work has been published and presented at different conferences including ACADIA / CAADRIA joint exhibition at University of Colorado Denver and University of Hong Kong, IASS/APCS, eCAADe, DigitalFUTURES, International Mass Timber Conference, FNR, LIGNA, The Future of Construction Symposiums at ETH Zurich and TUM, and BAU, among others. Amin has been the curator of the “Digital Architecture and Advanced Construction” lecture series at University of Mazandaran in Iran where he moderated a number of lectures by high-profile educators from the Columbia University (GSAPP), TU Delft, University of Stuttgart (ICD), Rhode Island School of Design, California College of the Art, Cooper Union, Washington State University, Singapore University of Technology and Design, Ohio State University, etc. His current research focuses on the development of circular and sustainable construction systems for the low-cost, material-efficient, and rapid assembly of structurally-efficient reusable lightweight timber structures made of defective short solid beams. He holds a Master of Science degree in Architecture from Politecnico Di Milano in Italy and has been the recipient of several merit-based scholarships.
