Contents

The students’ first building design in context: A design task of a medium level of complexity, precise interchange between the fields of object – environment – boundary, functional spaces, working with light and movement, surface structure (especially façade design) and material, a design as an information field. The exercise can be either a large individual design or various different impromptu designs. These will be integrated into the contexts of landscape and open spaces, preparing the students for large-scale design tasks.

Qualification objectives

The students are able to produce a classic building design, integrating the contents and skills they have learnt in the foundation modules. In addition to this, they gain social skills through the specific assignment of tasks. They are taught to understand architecture in symbiosis with ecology, economy, context and construction.
