7.1 A Design/ Construction

Contents:
The students’ own standpoint in design. Specific, multilayered architectural designs, focusing on construction using different building materials. Methodical use of the design parameters and implementation in construction systems and detailed design, conceptual design, supporting system, façade, roof/terrace, fixtures, materials and so on. A draft of a complete building down to the last detail, incorporating special construction details in the plan, profile, visualization and/or 1:1 model, economic and ecological aspects, etc.

Qualification objectives

Dealing with methods, techniques and laws of building in design and construction. The ability to implement the objectives of a design, incorporating parameters of construction, structure and other factors typical of the location, and turning these into a building of sophisticated design that fulfills all the requirements.

7.1 B Design/Urban Planning

Contents:
The students’ own standpoint in design Specific, multilayered design tasks of a high level of difficulty with the focus on urban development and consolidation of architectural aspects. The development of initial rough concepts based on the analysis, documentation and assessment of existing buildings, of reference works and relevant case studies, of program requirements and objectives. Narrowing down the conceptual work in a balanced discussion of alternative approaches, creating sub-projects on urban development and structure (where relevant). The preparation of plans, spatial visualizations and models of the design.

Qualification objectives

Dealing with methods, techniques and laws of urban and rural development and building in design and construction. The ability to implement the objectives of a design, incorporating parameters typical of the location and taking into account current developments to create a holistic plan with a sophisticated design that fulfils the requirements. The ability to process different measures logically (from the development plan down to the details).
