Contents
  • Basic systemic principles for the structures of climate-conscious, energy-efficient design: solution principles in interaction with all of the components
  • Individual aspects are taught: compactness, active and passive solar systems, façade systems, active and passive ventilation systems, organization of structural components, heat retention and similar
  • Cybernetic design processes: theory and practical application. Recording of the students’ own design process. Pinpointing the students’ own deficits with regard to an optimization of the design process
  • Assessment of the design process through analyses of sensitivity and sustainability
  • Calculation of additional costs generated by energy factors
  • Integration of optimization using construction physics in interaction with the optimization of the technical equipment. Certificate of DIN 18599; if required, certificate of thermal bridge, calculations of heating and cooling load- Integration of other project participants, such as the client, municipal authorities, construction trade, into the support service and/or presentation
  • Integration of additional specialist fields into the support service, to ensure the involvement of as many specialists as possible for the brief in question (daylight planning, computer-aided technologies, timber construction engineering, fire prevention and similar)
Qualification Objectives

The main objective is learning and practicing the integration of engineering right from the start of the design process. Students learn how to structure a system for a design process involving energy efficiency and climate consciousness.During the creative process of design, the students learn how to quantify relevant components and to assess their relevance to the objective. The design process is made extremely complex by the goal of improving energy efficiency, but not at the expense of the creative design. The students have to learn how to deal with and practice complex processes. They learn to develop a design based on the technology currently available in the building, to certify it for insulation and to make sure it is equipped with the necessary technology.
