Which courses can I choose at the Faculty of Business?

Except Internship and Bachelor thesis,incoming students are allowed to enroll in any course that is offered in the respective semester of our study programs "International Management", "Betriebswirtschaft" and the Master program "International Business & Finance" (only available for 4th year and Master students, there are prerequisites for enrolling in Master courses), subject to places available and language competence.

Our courses are mainly taught in German, but every semester a number of courses are taught in English, too.

Normally, our courses are only offered once a year - either in winter or in summer semester. But a few courses are offered in both semesters.

Free Business Language courses in Chinese, English, French, Italian and Spanish are also available for incoming students. Enrollment should be done in Moodle upon arrival.


N.B. Clashes with the time table are unavoidable if students are choosing courses from different programs and/ or different study years. But you will get help and support from the International Coordinators of our Faculty of Business.

Where can I find the course descriptions?

The course descriptions can be found in the study guides that are handed out during the orientation week or online.

Are courses from other faculties also available?

Incoming students can also choose courses from our Faculty of Liberal Arts.

Most of the Liberal Arts Courses are taught in German but there is a small number of courses taught in English.

Students who wish to enroll in these courses must register separately upon arrival, please refer to the website of the Faculty of Liberal Arts.

Free Language Courses are also available for incoming students.

Can I attend business courses offered in German?

If you have a good command of German (at least level B2), you can choose courses that are taught in German, too.

How do I enroll for my courses?

Upon arrival, students are required to register with our online learning platform Moodle.
The material that is used in the lectures is available there and the lecturers use this platform to communicate with the students of their courses.

Where can I find the time table?

You can find the time table online. Go to Stundenplan » Semester » Abteilung » (choose FK Wirtschaft) » Semester (choose the study program and semester).

Is it possible to extend my stay?

Those of you who would like to extend their stay for one more semester has to obtain permission from your home university as well as from our Faculty of Business.

The coordinator from your home university has to send us an official request as soon as possible.

Once the permission is granted, students are responsible to look for accommodation for the following semester themselves.

Re-enrollment for the following semester is also required. That is paying the administration fee of 114,85 Euro into the account of our university. Detailed information of the account number could be found on the website.

One week before the semester starts, students must validate their "Campus Card" (ID Card) again. You can validate your card in the hall in the M Building close to the room M 1.01 or M 1.02.

How do I enroll for the final exams?

Enrollment of exams will take place in November (Winter Semester) and May (Summer Semester). Ms. Helene Wetzel, International Coordinator from Faculty of Business, will help the incoming students of our Faculty of Business to do the registration. It is important to register for the final exams – otherwise you can’t take the exams.

How does the assessment work? What grading system is used at Hochschule Augsburg?

The final grade is based either only on the final exam or also grades from course work,  presentations, case studies etc. Students will be informed about the assessment at the beginning of the semester.               
In our univeristy a 1 to 5 scale is used with 1 being the best.

1,0 / 1,3   A (EXCELLENT) outstanding performance with only minor errors

1,7 / 2,0   B (VERY GOOD) above the average standard but with some errors

2,3 / 2,7   C (GOOD) generally sound work with a number of notable errors

3,0 / 3,3   D (SATISFACTORY) fair but with significant shortcomings

3,7 / 4,0   E (SUFFICIENT) performance meets the minimum criteria

5,0          F (FAILED)

When is the examination period? How do I know the dates of my exams?

For Winter Semester the examination period at our faculty starts at the mid of January until mid of February. For Summer Semester it starts at the end of June until the third week of July.
A provisional examination schedule will be published in the middle of every semester, but changes can still occur before the examination period starts.

How do I know the room for my exams?

In order to find the room for exams, please look for the course title and examination number, they are on the print-out of your exam registrations. The exam schedules can be found in the foyer of the building W.

Since in some courses one exam room is not big enough to accommodate all the participants, it is important to look for your room before the exam. Sitting places are allocated alphabetically according to your last name.

When are the results of the exams/the final grades of the courses available?

It will take about three weeks after the end of the examination for students to be able to access their grades online (Prüfungsverwaltung »Notenspiegel).

For those who fail their exams, they are allowed to review their examinations at the end of February for Winter Semester and July for Summer Semester.

Re-takes are possible, must consult the International Coordinators of our Faculty of Business.

What do I have to do before leaving Augsburg?

Before leaving Augsburg, it is important to contact the International Coordinators of the Faculty of Business and the International Office for the necessary formalities.

When do I receive my Transcript of Records?

The official Transcript of Records can be printed out by the students themselves online.
