History

The laboratory was set up in 2004. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Willi Rößner and laboratory engineer Martin Weng developed a concept for use in research and teaching.

The field of application was continuously expanded across all faculties. In 2011, the possibilities were significantly extended through an upgrade. With the 3D scanner procured at this time, the complete process chain of reverse engineering is implemented.
Tasks and objectives

Rapid Prototyping is primarily used to implement short-term projects of the Faculty of Mechanical and Process Engineering.

The range of usage is expanded by services for all faculties of the University, opening up additional possibilities to utilize the entire spectrum of this technology.

Services for third-party funded projects and “ad hoc” applications of the industry can be performed under certain conditions.
