Facade-integrated bioreactor systems

Jan 1, 2015 - Dec 31, 2018

Both active and valuable substances can be extracted from algae for a wide range of applications in industry. For the cultivation of microalgae, façade-integrated photobioreactors were developed, which avoid the consumption of arable land.

This avoids the so-called plate-tank problem. The aerosol-based reactor enables the cultivation of terrestrial algae and therefore differs significantly from previous aquatic photobioreactors. A 1:1 prototype was set up at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences as part of a joint research project funded by the BMBF.

Bio-Board

For use in the construction industry, a material board (bio-board) generated from microorganisms is being developed as part of the BMBF-funded "Bio-Board" research project, the properties of which are to be adapted to the specific installation situation by means of controlled growth processes. In addition to improved mechanical properties and geometry and scale independence, the growth-based and thus low-energy manufacturing process of large-area materials is particularly innovative.

e% Energy-efficient housing construction

8 projects, a total of 333 apartments - the Bavarian Supreme Building Authority wanted to know exactly in the model project "e% - energy-efficient residential construction": How can energy-efficient housing construction be both cost-effective and good? How can the energy requirements of the EnEV 2009 in terms of primary energy demand and transmission heat losses be undercut by more than 40% while maintaining the highest quality of living space?

CyPhREE: Smart platform for intelligent buildings of tomorrow

Smart Grid, Smart Home, Industry 4.0 and (building) monitoring are various activities that have been carried out at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences with individual projects at faculties in the high-tech sector and in the area of resource efficiency. With a joint project, these activities are bundled and specifically compiled for industrial and research applications.
