The article reports that the SMILe project aims to provide long-term support for people who need a bone marrow transplant. Around 20,000 people in Europe require such a transplant every year, often due to blood cancer, with up to 70 per cent developing serious complications. The SMILe Health app with an alarm system and a personal care coordinator are intended to help those affected with daily self-management.
