cyber city

CyberCity

This is my very first 3D model. I was asked to create a futuristic city at night. For this task, only basic shapes were to be used, which could only be scaled and inserted into each other. For a futuristic look I used a lot of neon tubes with bright colors to connect buildings horizontally, diagonally and vertically. They provide a scifi ambience and guide the viewer's gaze through the city.

floating objects

Floating objects

In this task, the basic shapes should be manipulated to recreate five everyday objects. These should be simple objects that we could find close by, for example on our desk. They should then be arranged floating in space and attractively illuminated. For a soft light, the objects are placed in a slightly foggy volume. When arranging the objects, I tried to create as many diagonal lines in the room as possible to let the viewer's gaze wander and create tension. The scene should look less static so that the objects really look like they are floating away.

scifi container

For this task, five different designs for scifi-containers should be created. As a new technique, booleans should be applied to deform the workpieces in interesting ways. The color scheme should show large areas in white, medium areas in gray and small details in black. Finally, the boxes were made to look like manually drawn concept art by applying a modifier.

character design

In this assignment, we looked at the process of developing a 3D character. The task involved initial sketches, elaboration of finer details as well as modelling and rigging the actual character model. Because organic forms are especially difficult to get right for beginners, the main character should be a robot based on simpler geometric shapes.

DH3L is a mail robot. In the future, due to pressure from the Jealous Husbands Association (J.H.A.), all mailmen were replaced by robots. However, the technology was not quite mature yet, resulting in most mail robots not fulfilling their duties properly.
