4. - 7. Semester Communication Design (BA) and Interactive Media (BA)
communication design subject area and pathway:
»identity design and branding«
Prof. Stefan Bufler

»Branding« is a popular, but often misused term for a very human activity:
the public expression of identity and ownership relating to personal or
collective values and ideas. The desire to communicate this »identity«
lies at the heart of many design projects commissioned by individuals, companies,
organisations and institutions, cities or even states. In the
»Fachklasse Identität und Marke«
(identity design and branding) we search for characteristic
traits and patterns within an organisation's DNA and translate
those into memorable stories, images and identity systems.
Students are encouraged to think creatively and strategically as
well as to employ and experiment with a broad range of techniques and media.
Projects may be concerned with the design of complex identity programmes
for existing as well as ficticious organisations or focus on specific
issues related to the professional practice of identity design.
If you want to invent and craft visual languages that convey meaning and personality, this course is for you.
