Project description

As a follow-up project to HSA_international 2.0, HSA_sustaIN pursues the goal of establishing internationalization sustainably at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. Here, "sustainability" is related to the social, ecological and structural level.

In this way, international experiences should be made possible for students and employees for whom a longer stay abroad is not possible due to family responsibilities, health or financial reasons. Short-term programs such as summer schools, international projects or virtual/hybrid programs play a central role here.

HSA_sustaIN focuses on three main areas:

Central part of the project

Continuing education courses (language courses & workshops on intercultural skills) are offered for THA staff and faculty.
Furthermore, students and teachers can receive advice on summer schools and projects abroad.
The Summer & Winter School Scholarship supports participation in courses during semester breaks abroad.

Partner Setup (Social Work)

In this part of the project, the still young social work program is building its own network of international partners for study and practice. After researching potential partners and approaching them, kick-off visits are conducted and the program's own courses are internationalized (more teaching in English).
Thus, in the second year of the project, the first international practical phases of social work students (THA) take place with the new partners abroad.
For this purpose, kick-off scholarships are provided by the project.

Attractive Partnerships (Application-oriented exchange programs)

In order to expand cooperation with existing partner universities in technical fields, research internships are offered at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. These are available to students from partner universities. A pool of laboratory projects is being built up from which students can choose.
In addition to Short Term Internships (max. 3 months), study-related internships can also be completed during a semester abroad in Augsburg.

There are limited scholarships available for mobility and stay funded by the project.
