German-Kenyan Design Workshop: Kenyan Wilderness

Kenya Workshop

To reflect and design on a topic such as wilderness, students have to dive in the real wilderness of the country. Exactly that’s what the group of German and Kenyan students did, when they were working together on a two-weeks-workshop.
For the German students, it was such an exciting trip to explore Kenyan wildlife - watching giraffes passing by, observing zebras gazing next to the dormitories and chasing monkeys. And in contrast, to experience the type of urban wilderness that existed in the mega city of Nairobi where traffic cripples down public life and where clean water and electricity is still available for everyone.
For Kenyan students it was a great experience to live and work together and to share and exchange their thoughts and ideas. And for the lecturers Simone Hueetlin, Juergen Hefele, Doris Binger, Melisa Alela and Winnie Onyuko, it was extremely rewarding to work together.
